March 20 - European UAP Day – A Call for Strategic Autonomy
On Thursday, March 20, 2025, UAP Coalition Netherlands will celebrate “European UAP Day” on the occasion of the 1st anniversary of the historic EU UAP Event in the European Parliament. UAPCNL calls on the European Union to take decisive action on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP). With the increasing number of reports of unexplained aerial activity over critical infrastructure and military sites, the need for a coordinated European response has never been more urgent. Recent hearings in the US Congress and mounting security concerns underline that Europe can no longer afford to ignore UAP and its implications for aviation safety, defence and scientific research.
On the occasion of this European UAP Day, experts and researchers will highlight the urgent need for a European mechanism for the collection and analysis of UAP data, the integration of UAP into EU aeronautics and space policies, and funding for scientific and technological innovation. While the United States, Canada, Russia and China have already made significant progress in the structured approach to UAP, the EU is lagging behind. A proactive stance will not only strengthen security, but also contribute to Europe's strategic autonomy in aeronautics and space.
UAP Coalition Netherlands calls on EU institutions to recognise UAP as a legitimate issue that requires a coordinated and transparent approach. By stimulating international cooperation and making use of Europe's technological expertise, the EU can play a leading role in this emerging field of research. The time for action is now and Europe must ensure that its airspace remains safe, its research is leading and its strategic autonomy is safeguarded.
UAP Coalition Netherlands calls on EU to include UAP as strategic uncertainty in policy
UAP Coalition Netherlands has submitted its official feedback to the Call for Evidence of the European Commission’s 2025 Strategic Foresight Report. In this contribution, the coalition advocates for the integration of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) into the EU policy process.
UAP are increasingly recognized internationally as a strategic uncertainty with potential implications for security, aviation, energy infrastructure and scientific research. Countries such as the United States, France, China and Russia have already launched policy and research initiatives to study and regulate UAP observations.
Although there are reports of UAP observations at critical infrastructure such as nuclear installations and military facilities, a coordinated approach to UAP research, reporting systems and risk assessment is lacking within the European Union. This leaves a critical gap in the EU resilience strategy.
UAP Coalition Netherlands Launches EU-wide Campaign for UAP Action
UAP Coalition Netherlands calls on citizens and organisations to jointly put pressure on the European Parliament to take Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) seriously. In 2024, fifteen UAP organisations from ten EU countries, Norway and the United Kingdom sent a letter to European politicians. Now we are taking the next step: an ongoing campaign in which citizens ask their MEPs to take concrete measures, such as data collection, research and policy integration around UAP.
Do you want to contribute to more transparency and serious research on UAP in Europe? Send an email to your MEP! We have a sample letter available to help you get started. Join in and make your voice heard! 🚀
Canada takes the lead in tackling UAP reports: What can the Netherlands learn?
With the publication of the Sky Canada Report, a preview by the Canadian Chief Science Advisor, Canada takes an important step in addressing reports of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP). This report emphasizes the growing need for a structured and transparent approach to UAP observations and provides valuable insights that the Netherlands can also learn from.
The Sky Canada Report shows that Canada receives between 600 and 1,000 UAP reports each year, many of which come from citizens. However, only 10% of people who observe UAP report their sighting to an official agency. The study shows that in Canada, as in the Netherlands, there is a lack of a central agency that coordinates and investigates reports. Furthermore, the lack of official information often leads to the spread of misinformation.
Key recommendations from the Sky Canada Report:
A central reporting point: The report proposes that a federal organization be designated to serve as a central reporting point for UAP sightings and to investigate these reports scientifically.
Public information: Through educational programs and transparent communications, Canada aims to better inform the public and combat misinformation.
International cooperation: Canada is calling for closer cooperation with countries such as the United States, France and Chile, which are further along in UAP research.
How is the Netherlands doing?
In the Netherlands, there is currently no government policy or central body for UAP research. Information and reports are mainly collected by citizen organizations, which leads to a lack of national data and coordination. UAP Coalition Netherlands therefore calls for a similar approach as in Canada. This includes the establishment of a secure and central reporting system, stimulating scientific research and developing educational programs to increase knowledge about UAP.
Working together on answers
The publication of the Sky Canada Report underlines that UAP can no longer be dismissed as a fringe phenomenon. It requires a serious, scientific approach that focuses on openness and collaboration. The Netherlands can learn from Canada's initiatives and contribute to an international network that further investigates the mysteries of UAP.
UAP Coalition Netherlands invites policymakers, scientists and citizens to work together on a transparent and scientifically sound policy. Let's work together on answers.

Statement following BlckbxTV broadcast
On Monday, December 16, 2024, BlckbxTV highlighted the recent sightings of swarms of drones over military bases, residential areas and other infrastructure in the United States, Germany and England.
During this item, UAPCNL was mentioned in a positive way, which we as an organization appreciate. We see this as recognition of our work and our efforts to seriously investigate this phenomenon.
However, in the same broadcast there was extensive speculation about possible links with extraterrestrial life, technology and the influence of a so-called "Deep State". The impression was given that these speculations are based on facts. As UAPCNL we want to distance ourselves from this. The theory about extraterrestrial life and technology has not (yet) been scientifically proven, and we base ourselves solely on facts and research methods that fall within scientific frameworks.
UAPCNL believes that all theories should be able to be investigated, but to do this in a sound and objective manner, scientifically sound research with adequate funding and extensive data collection is needed. Both elements are currently insufficiently available. However, our team is working hard to help realize these conditions, so that research can be conducted in a transparent and scientific manner.
De Telegraaf pays attention to historic EU UAP call
the Telegraaf on November 27, 2024 wrote an extensive article about the historic collaboration and call by 15 civil society organizations to the European Union to take action on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena
The article outlines the organisations' concerns and why the EU should take this issue seriously.
Historic call to action: Civil society groups urge EU to take action on UAP
Fifteen civil society organisations from ten EU countries, Norway and the United Kingdom have issued an appeal to the European Union to take urgent action on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP). They point out the potential risks of UAP to public and national security and stress the need for the EU to create a process for collecting, analysing and publishing UAP data. They also call for the inclusion of UAP in aviation, safety and space legislation and advocate funding for multidisciplinary research. This call follows a event in the European Parliament, where pilots, scientists and organisations presented their findings to parliamentarians. You can find the press release here find.
UAP Coalition Netherlands Urges EU to Address UAP in Energy Security Strategy
UAP Coalition Netherlands has called on the European Union to include Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) in its energy security strategy. While the EU has made significant progress in building a robust energy policy across the electricity, gas, oil and nuclear sectors, recent global challenges, including the energy crisis caused by the Russian attack on Ukraine, have exposed vulnerabilities. While the EU is strengthening its energy security architecture evaluates Amid the clean energy transition, the coalition stresses the importance of addressing low-probability but high-risk factors, such as the potential disruption of critical energy infrastructure by UAP. UAP Coalition Netherlands warns that ignoring such risks could create a dangerous blind spot in the EU’s energy defence strategy. The group calls on policymakers to integrate UAP-related risk assessments into the EU’s energy security strategy to ensure resilience and protect citizens and infrastructure.
Dutch Safety Board accepts reports of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena
The Dutch Safety Board (OVV) in The Hague has indicated that it will accept reports from Dutch aviation professionals who have encountered UAP. In the aviation domain, the Safety Board investigates serious incidents and accidents that have occurred on Dutch territory or in Dutch airspace. In the case of reports that occurred outside Dutch territory or airspace, these are referred to the designated authority in the country where the event occurred. Anyone can report any situation or incident to the Safety Board. The Board then independently and independently weighs up whether an investigation will be initiated.
If an unsafe situation has occurred, the Safety Board may decide to investigate the UAP report further. This offers an important step towards safer airspace with regard to UAP. Earlier this year, an exploratory meeting took place between UAPCNL and the OVV. The Safety Board is an independent administrative body and conducts independent investigations into (underlying) causes of incidents and themes in which citizens depend on others for their safety, such as the government, companies or institutions. With the aim of improving safety in the Netherlands.
Coalition response:
“As a Coalition, we are pleased to report that the OVV has indicated that it wants to receive reports of UAP from Dutch aviation professionals. Airspace can be endangered by experiences with UAP, so it is positive that an independent administrative body wants to gain more insight into this and takes reports seriously. We see this as recognition and an important step towards achieving our goals“.
UAPCNL talks with the Netherlands Space Office about UAP and the EU Space Law
On August 7th 2024 UAPCNL had a meeting with the 'Netherlands Space Office' about UAP and the proposed EU Space Law. This legislative proposal includes common EU rules for the safety, resilience and sustainability of space activities and operations. UAPCNL gave by the end of 2023 their feedback about the proposed law.
UAPCNL proposes to include UAP in the law and to remove the stigma for reporting UAP observations by space crew and astronauts. Furthermore, we propose to integrate UAP into essential observation systems: the EU Space Surveillance and Tracking Partnership (SST) and the Near Earth Object monitoring service (NEO). SST focuses on monitoring, preventing and ‘cleaning up’ space debris from satellites and other sources, and NEO observes objects (including asteroids and comets) that approach Earth from space and may pose a threat. We also propose to appoint a UAP research director within the European Union Agency for the Space Programme for.
The pleasant conversation with NSO gave UAPCNL the opportunity to discuss these topics and to emphasize the importance of UAP in space law.
UAPCNL meeting with EASA and European Commission about EU flight safety
On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, UAPCNL had a meeting with EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) and the European Commission department responsible for flight safety in the European Union (DG MOVE). UAPCNL submitted a request to the European Commission (EC) to add Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) as a separate category within the EU's harmonized reporting systems, following questions from MP Guerreiro on flight safety. Although the EC earlier claimed that UAP could be reported under “unknown airborne objects”, it turned out during the meeting with the EC and EASA that this category does not exist. EASA and the EC suggested reporting UAP incidents under “Near Airborne Collision with Other Airborne Object”, but this category does not adequately cover UAP incidents. Despite the advice to set up awareness campaigns in all 27 EU member states, subsidies are not available and further action from the EC and EASA is lacking, making improved reporting systems and international harmonization for UAP reports urgently needed.
