{"id":5085,"date":"2025-12-19T10:39:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T10:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uapcoalitienederland.nl\/?p=5085"},"modified":"2026-02-19T15:59:39","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T15:59:39","slug":"conversation-dg-rtd-european-commission-era-act-uap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uapcoalitienederland.nl\/en\/gesprek-dg-rtd-europese-commissie-era-act-uap\/","title":{"rendered":"UAPCNL in talks with the European Commission about the new ERA Act"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On <strong>December 19, 2025<\/strong> UAP Coalition Netherlands, accompanied by Prof. Anders Warell and Dr. Beatriz Villarroel, spoke with the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) of the European Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This consultation was a direct result of our <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/law\/better-regulation\/have-your-say\/initiatives\/14608-European-Research-Area-Act\/F3714975_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">contribution<\/a> to the <strong>European Research Area (ERA) Act<\/strong>. We made it clear at this meeting that an integrated European research market is unattainable as long as stigma hinders progress in unconventional fields such as UAP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Our four concrete proposals for the ERA Act:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Open scientific research:<\/strong> Promoting an open-minded attitude towards complex phenomena.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Anti-stigma guidelines:<\/strong> Frameworks for funders to counter unconscious bias in science.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Equal access to data:<\/strong> Ensuring that researchers in marginalised fields can use European infrastructures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Protection of talent:<\/strong> Preventing top talent from leaving science due to fear of reputational damage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The European Commission representatives now understand that stigma can pose a barrier to the &quot;fifth freedom&quot; (the free movement of knowledge).
