UAP Coalition Netherlands warns that ignoring <em>Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena<\/em> (UAP) is a missed opportunity for both security and science in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While major powers like the US, China, and France have already integrated UAP into their policies, EU-wide legislation is lagging behind. The ESA is also showing more openness; director Josef Aschbacher <a href=\"https:\/\/oe1.orf.at\/programm\/20250522\/795005\/Europa-und-das-Wettrennen-im-Weltall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">asked<\/a> rather that the subject deserves more attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Opportunities for science and technology:<\/strong> According to UAPCNL, existing infrastructure, such as ESA&#039;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eusst.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">systems<\/a> for space debris and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/ESA_Multimedia\/Videos\/2025\/08\/Izana-2_joins_the_laser_game_to_track_space_debris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Izana-2<\/a> Laser station, can be used effectively for UAP monitoring. This offers unique opportunities for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Safety:<\/strong> Better protection of satellites and astronauts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Innovation:<\/strong> Development of AI and smart sensors for anomaly detection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Data:<\/strong> Transparent collection of scientific data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Our policy proposals to the EU:<\/strong> In our official <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/law\/better-regulation\/have-your-say\/initiatives\/13971-EU-Space-Act-new-rules-for-safe-resilient-and-sustainable-space-activities\/F33070538_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">contribution<\/a> We call for the EU Space Act:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Explicit recognition:<\/strong> Inclusion of UAP in the legal texts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reporting obligation:<\/strong> Obligation for operators to report unidentified phenomena.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Synergy:<\/strong> Use of existing monitoring systems for UAP detection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Transparency:<\/strong> Central data collection without the hindering effect of stigma.<\/li>\n<\/ol>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The European Union is currently laying the foundation for a new space law to regulate satellites and space traffic.
