{"id":5032,"date":"2024-08-07T18:01:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-07T18:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uapcoalitienederland.nl\/?p=5032"},"modified":"2026-01-30T11:17:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T11:17:19","slug":"netherlands-space-office-uap-eu-space-law-sst-neo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uapcoalitienederland.nl\/en\/netherlands-space-office-uap-eu-ruimtewet-sst-neo\/","title":{"rendered":"UAPCNL consults with the Netherlands Space Office on the EU Space Act and SST\/NEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On <strong>August 7, 2024<\/strong> UAPCNL has had a fundamental discussion with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spaceoffice.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Netherlands Space Office<\/a> (NSO) on the proposed <a href=\"https:\/\/defence-industry-space.ec.europa.eu\/newsroom\/consultations\/targeted-consultation-eu-space-law_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EU Space Act<\/a>. This bill focuses on the safety, resilience, and sustainability of European space activities. UAPCNL submitted its application at the end of 2023. <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/law\/better-regulation\/have-your-say\/initiatives\/13971-EU-ruimtewet-nieuwe-regels-voor-veilige-veerkrachtige-en-duurzame-ruimtevaartactiviteiten\/F3444826_nl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">their feedback<\/a> in this proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the meeting with NSO, UAPCNL proposed explicitly including UAP in legislation. This is essential to eliminate the stigma surrounding reporting by astronauts and space crew. UAPCNL also advocates for the integration of UAP data into existing monitoring systems, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eusst.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SST<\/a> (<strong>Space Surveillance and Tracking<\/strong>): aimed at monitoring and preventing collisions with space debris.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/defence-industry-space.ec.europa.eu\/eu-space\/ssa-europes-eyes-space\/near-earth-objects_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NEO<\/a> (<strong>Near Earth Objects<\/strong>): observing objects such as asteroids approaching Earth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, UAPCNL proposed the appointment of a dedicated UAP Research Director within the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euspa.europa.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Union Agency for the Space Programme<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Op 7 augustus 2024 heeft UAPCNL een fundamenteel gesprek gevoerd met het Netherlands Space Office (NSO) over de voorgestelde EU Ruimtevaartwet.
