{"id":5029,"date":"2024-07-09T16:59:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-09T16:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uapcoalitienederland.nl\/?p=5029"},"modified":"2026-01-30T11:17:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T11:17:08","slug":"easa-dg-move-uap-flight-safety-reporting-deficit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uapcoalitienederland.nl\/en\/easa-dg-move-uap-flight-safety-reporting-deficit\/","title":{"rendered":"UAPCNL consultation with EASA and DG MOVE: Reporting gap in EU airspace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Tuesday <strong>July 9, 2024<\/strong> an important meeting took place between UAPCNL, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easa.europa.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EASA<\/a> (<em>European Union Aviation Safety Agency<\/em>) and the European Commission Directorate-General responsible for aviation safety (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/about\/departments-and-executive-agencies\/mobility-and-transport_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DG MOVE<\/a><\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response to critical <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/doceo\/document\/E-9-2024-000314_EN.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">questions<\/a> Member of the European Parliament Francisco Guerreiro, UAPCNL submitted a formal request to include UAP as a separate category in the EU&#039;s harmonized reporting systems. Although the European Commission previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/doceo\/document\/E-9-2024-000314-ASW_EN.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed<\/a> While UAP could be reported under the heading \u201cunknown airborne objects,\u201d it became painfully clear during this meeting that in practice this category does not exist at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The EASA and EC proposal to simply classify incidents as &quot;Near Airborne Collision&quot; falls short and doesn&#039;t cover the scope. Despite the urgency for international harmonization and the need for awareness campaigns in all 27 member states, concrete actions and subsidies are currently lacking.
